Known as "Whittinghams Patent" although no patent has
ever been found for it!!!!! It is a 9
lever dual control safe lock but has a double bitted
"Master" key so that the head of the Bank could gain
access with just his one key whereas the two cashiers
needed a key each. It was made about 1880 before the system
was brought in using a letter for the year followed by the
number.
